Why are there no women in the NFL?
There are no women in the NFL because women are not physically strong enough to resist the physically damaging punishment of the NFL. Additionally, financial reasons and a lack of support from sponsors and other businesses also hold them back.
Reasons there are no women in the NFL:
The teams are all male
The National Football League was established in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. It was founded by an organization of professional football teams that wanted to continue playing despite a ban from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on paying college players for their play.
After being denied membership into the NCAA, an alternative league emerged, and this group of pro-football-playing teams officially formed the NFL in 1920.
In order to join the NFL in those early days, a team had to pay a $100 fee and agree to follow league rules—which included no payment to players.

The earliest teams were all made up of men who worked other jobs as well as played football professionally, which is why they are now called “pro” teams. The first game ever played by what would become the NFL was on October 3, 1920, when two teams from Ohio played each other in Akron.
It was not until decades later that any women would be allowed to play for these pro-football squads.
They are not physically strong enough:
For years, women have had the right to vote, own property, and work in any field that they choose. And yet, when it comes to playing professional football, women are left out of the equation. Why?
The problem lies in the physical strength required for a woman to compete with an NFL player. It’s not that female athletes aren’t strong enough or disciplined enough—they simply lack the capability of matching up with their male counterparts.
Women may be just as smart as men and possess similar levels of dedication when it comes to training and practicing a sport. But when you consider the biggest differences between men and women—strength and height—it becomes obvious why there haven’t been any female players in recent years who have made it onto an NFL roster.

Women’s bodies won’t hold up to the physicality:
Women have been making great strides in the world of professional sports. Serena Williams, arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, has also been dominating the world of Grand Slam tournaments since 1999.
The WNBA has been around for 20 seasons now, with many players being household names such as Lisa Leslie and Diana Taurasi.
But when it comes to football—both the American variety and soccer—women are still marginalized and rarely get to play at higher levels than college or even high school. In fact, there have only been a handful of women ever playing in the NFL.
“I don’t think it’s because people are like ‘women can’t.’ I think it’s just because we haven’t,” said Canadian Football League commissioner Randy Ambrosie in an interview with ESPN’s Mina Kimes about why there aren’t any women playing in major North American pro football leagues yet.
The game is physically damaging:
Women have had a long, proud history in the world of sports: they’ve held titles in golf and tennis, won medals in gymnastics and swimming, and even been drafted into the NFL as kickers.
But as far as playing on the field is concerned, women remain conspicuously absent from all but one sport—and that may not be for much longer.
Women are increasingly joining men’s teams in basketball and soccer, but football remains elusive to female athletes. The lingering question then becomes: why?
Why are there no women in the NFL? It comes down to two things: physicality and money.
women’s bodies could not take the rigorous punishment:
It has been widely documented that women get injured more often than men in the NFL. The league’s medical staff also treats girls differently than boys do, even when they’re just as small and fragile.
It seems as though the NFL wants to encourage dangerous behavior among female players while trying to minimize the risk of injury among them.
That’s why there are no women in the NFL.
Can we expect women to play in future NFL games?
The most important thing to know about the NFL is that it’s a business. This means that they’re not going to sponsor, support, or pay for a women’s league.
They’re also not interested in adding more games to their schedule because then they would have to cut out some other game, and fans don’t want them to do that either.
Also, it’s just bad business sense for them to add an entirely new league when soccer is already trying and failing at this.
The league doesn’t have any incentive financially or otherwise to add on another division of players.
There are definitely some talented female athletes out there who are capable of competing with men in football games, but unfortunately, it’s never going to happen due to financial reasons and a lack of support from sponsors and other businesses involved with the sport.
